Auburn Virginia Wiki

In colonial years, Auburn, Virginia saw travel where the north-south Carolina Road met with the east-west road between Warrenton and Dumfries. As the years unfolded, the area saw visits from a young George Washington, captured British troops after the Battle of Saratoga, the creation of Fauquier County, local agricultural invention and skirmishes and troop movements as the North and South contended at the 1st and 2nd Battles of Auburn.

Upon the arrival of the railroads in the mid 1800s, commerce declined as the railroad line through Catlett and Manassas provided an easier route from east to west and the town faded. Today, the town of Auburn is gone from many maps, but the land continues to support the families that farm it, run home businesses on it, or cherish it as they go to bring their skills to Washington DC and Warrenton, making new history each day.
